Program Note:
quasi una taciturnà was written in close collaboration with the amazing Jena Gardner. The work quietly explores the otherworldly sounds of horn multiphonics (singing while playing). The title, “almost a taciturnity,” refers to the notion of a perceptual silence that Renaissance theorists invoked to allow certain kinds of dissonances. Many thanks to Jena for her amazing performances.
